Guided House Tours
- Docent-led guided tours are conducted at noon whenever the House is open.
- Self-guided tours are available from 10am-4pm.
Watch a 15-minute video, learn about Hay family history, the architecture and building phases of the Main House, and discover what it was like to live on Lake Sunapee in the late 20th century. Guided historic tours of the Main House are offered Wednesday through Sunday at 12pm and are limited to 15 tour goers. Reserve a minimum of one day in advance or check for openings at the Main House when you arrive. No telephone reservations please.
Self-guided tours are available from 10am to 4pm during Main House Hours. Wander the House at your leisure and on your own schedule. Ask questions of Historic Docents and learn about the Hay family and John Milton Hay’s incredible contributions to American history through interpretive signage throughout the House.
Browse the History and Ecology Exhibits and visit the Art Gallery and souvenir Shop. Enjoy the views of Lake Sunapee and Mount Sunapee from seating on the Veranda.
Forty-minute guided tours of the gardens are offered Wednesday through Sunday, mid-June through mid-August. Garden tours are included in the cost of admission. Tours begin on the Veranda at 11am and are conducted by a member of The Fells landscape staff.
