John W. (Babe) Sargent, (1929-2011), was as an artist, actor, pilot, historian, and business owner. Having lived here for over 50 years, he was passionate about the history and lore of the Lake Sunapee Region. Babe was a prolific self-taught artist who liked to work with pencil an in oil. As long-time owner of Sargent’s Marina in Georges Mills, one would often find Babe painting or sketching in between customers. Babe’s artwork also reflects his love of storytelling. Each painting captures a bit of history and tells the story of the people and places of the Sunapee Region and of days gone by. Opening Reception May 26, 5-7 PM. Open during Main House hours. Included with site admission.
