Group Tours

The John Hay Estate at The Fells offers a variety of ways in which your group may visit. 

Self-Guided Group Tours

May 24 through October 19, 2025

General admission fees apply and advance scheduling is not required for groups of less than 20 who wish to self-guide. Self-guiding groups of 20 or more visitors should book their visit at least one week in advance.

Admission fee includes historic tours of the Main House (when open), and self-guided tours of the gardens and John Hay Ecology Trail. Public guided tours of the gardens are offered at 11:00am when the Main House is open. Garden tours are open to self-guiding groups.

Self Guided Group Tour Fees

Private Group Tours

Private group tours of the house, gardens, or in combination are available to groups of 10 or more Monday through Friday, June through August. House tours last approximately one hour and are led by a docent or the Education Director. Garden tours last approximately 40 minutes and are led by a member of the Landscape staff. A minimum of two weeks advance registration is requested with a deposit of 50% received 7 days prior to the date of tour. Prearranged tours proceed rain or shine and are conducted on weekdays.

Private Group Tour Fees

• Private House Tour - $20 per person (10 person minimum)

• Private Garden Tour - $20 per person (10 person minimum)

• Private Combined House and Garden Tour - $20 per person (10 person minimum)

Snacks and cold drinks are available at The Fells Welcome Center when the Main House is open. We invite visitors to bring lunch to enjoy on the shaded veranda. There are no trash disposal facilities, please carry out all trash.
