Join us for us this evening presentation by Dr. Charles Spencer, Curator of Mexican & Central American Archaeology at the Museum of Natural History (AMNH) in New York City. Dr. Spencer's ongoing research focuses on the development of pre-Columbian complex societies in Mexico and Venezuela. He will be joined by AMNH Research Associate Elsa Redmond, his wife, with whom he has recently excavated the well-preserved remains of an ancient Zapotec palace dating to 300-100 BCE, one of the earliest palaces ever found by archaeologists in Mesoamerica. In 2014, Dr. Spencer and Dr. Redmond have both recently been elected as members of the National Academy of Sciences. Following their talk, Charles and Elsa will field questions about their ongoing research and other activities at the AMNH. Meets at the Pavilion.
