Nursery Workshop: Perennial Dividing, Planting, or Potting Up

  • John Hay Estate at The Fells 456 Rt 103A / PO Box 276 Newbury, NH 03255 United States (map)

Fall is the perhaps best time to work on perennials here at The Fells or in our home gardens.  And whether it is because our plants have outgrown their allotted spaces and would benefit from being lifted and divided, or we wish to make a few changes to the garden layout, or we want to take advantage of Fall plant sales and plant new varieties ahead of 2023, September is a really good time to get on with these projects.  The soil is still warm, the plants have time to get established in their new spots before cooler weather sets in, and here in New England we usually have adequate rainfall to help our efforts.

The John Hay Estate at The Fells is just like our own gardens, with perennials needing attention regularly to be at their best.  This workshop will be led by our Nursery team and consist of in-field, hands-on work to learn proper techniques and procedures involved with all aspects of fall lifting, dividing, replanting, or potting up. Meeting at the new Glasshouse at the Pavilion.

Members are free; Nonmembers $10. Email info@thefells.org to register or call 603-763-4789 x3 to reserve your space which is limited.  Rain Date: Tuesday, September 20
