WE APOLOGIZE BUT THIS HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL 2021: Author Burt Solomon writes, “In both of my historical mysteries—it’ll be a trilogy—I’ve used John Hay as my detective (and alter ego). I didn’t choose him; he chose me.” Mr. Solomon will talk about how he turned a fascinating historical figure into a quasi-fictional character. What did he keep; what did he add; and why? John Hay was an accomplished, charming, and complicated man—“a fallible, engaging character,” as a reviewer put it—Hay is a marvelous vehicle for viewing the tumult of American history from Lincoln to Theodore Roosevelt. Join us for this delightful presentation, followed by conversation. Mr. Solomon will also take questions and comments. Books will be available and the author is willing to sign them. Because of COVID-19 we are unable to offer food and beverages this summer but we encourage you to please bring your own lunch to eat as you enjoy this presentation. Meets at the Pavilion.
