“Wind/Water/Fire/Ice,” Dave Anderson

  • John Hay Estate at The Fells 456 Rt 103A / PO Box 276 Newbury, NH 03255 United States (map)

Dave Anderson will share a slide-illustrated presentation about historic, severe weather events in NH and impacts to forests at the state and local level, including forests in the Lake Sunapee Region. High winds, strong hurricanes, floods, forest fires and ice storms are rare but the effects are long-lasting in some cases.  How are NH forests adapted to disturbance? Will forests experience more extreme weather events in the future due to climate change?

Anderson is writer and co-host of “Something Wild," the natural history and forest-related Friday radio feature and podcast on New Hampshire Public Radio (NHPR).  In 2014, Anderson received the prestigious 2014 Fred E. Beane Award for effective, fair and balanced Statewide communications on issues affecting agriculture and forestry in New Hampshire.
