Kids Nature Journaling Workshop with Heidi Colburn

Join certified Nature Journal Educator Heidi Colburn for a hands-on nature journaling adventure. Heidi is a biologist, educator, and nature journal ambassador who loves helping people connect with the natural world. Nature journaling is a simple, powerful way to spark curiosity and deepen our relationship with nature using only a notebook and a pen or pencil. This practice has been shown to support physical and emotional well‑being while also strengthening our awareness of the environment. During this workshop, Heidi will introduce families to the basics of nature journaling, guide kids as they get started, and provide time for everyone to practice their new skills.

We will be outside for an hour, so please dress appropriately. This event is free (all materials provided) and is recommended for families with children aged 5 and up. Advance registration is requested as space is limited. Please email info@thefells.org to reserve your space.

This event is made possible by a generous grant from the Wellborn Ecology Fund.

Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) Presentation: Raptors: Inspiring Conservation

For hundreds of years, humans didn’t understand the vital role that raptors play in our ecosystem. Some of our most charismatic birds, including the Bald Eagle and Peregrine Falcon, wound up on the Endangered Species List, and today we know that a majority of bird species are in decline. Join us in learning how people banded together to save these magnificent animals and meet some live birds who will help us tell these inspiring conservation stories. Best of all, learn what you can still do to help them thrive in the wild. This program is recommended for all ages.

Meets in the Pavilion. Members: free, Non-members: included with regular admission.  Advance registration is requested, but walk-ins are welcome. Please email info@thefells.org to reserve your space.

This event is made possible by a generous grant from the Wellborn Ecology Fund.
